About Kathy

From an early age, music was my passion which then became my profession.  Growing up in a suburb of Buffalo, NY, life was filled with music.  After graduating from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Music degree, I yearned to escape the snow-filled winters and settled in Redding, CA.  It is there that I spent 45 years immersed in most things music.  I taught music at all levels- children through adults-and volunteered teaching a flute choir at the local high school for numerous years. I earned my Master of Music degree in flute performance and education from the University of Oregon, performed in our local symphonies and a woodwind quintet, and have participated in liturgical music most of my adult life.

Then the Covid pandemic hit.  

Needing something to occupy my time other than practicing alone in the house, I began painting with watercolors in 2020.  This visual artistic passion soon drew my attention more intensely, and in 2023 I began experimenting with pastels. Other than sewing, quilting, and “craft” projects, 2020 marked the beginning of my journey in the visual arts.  I look forward to experimenting with oils next and am always excited to begin “The Next Creation”.
